Groups with under 700 members
A draw is used to determine which groups with under 700 members will have the
right to designate a delegate.
Groups with under 700 members are classified into five distinct group categories, namely:
- Groups with 2 to 49 members
- Groups with 50 to 99 members
- Groups with 100 to 249 members
- Groups with 250 to 499 members
- Groups with 500 to 699 members
However, in certain cases, at the policyholder’s request, contracts may be
combined to form a group of 700 members or more.
A draw of groups which will have the right to designate a delegate is held for each group category,
at some time between September 1 and 30 each year. For the purposes of the draw, each group has a
number of entries corresponding to the total number of its members. The number of delegates that
may be designated per group category is established according to the table provided for such purpose.
Delegates are normally designated for a two-year mandate.
The contract policyholders of the groups drawn are responsible for putting in place a method
for designating delegates from among the members in their contract.
A form for the purpose of designating delegates is sent to groups drawn, within 10 working
days following the draw. The group must notify the Corporate Secretary of its intention to designate a delegate within
20 days following receipt of the form. The name and contact details of the delegate designated by each group must
then be submitted to and received by the Corporate Secretary no later than October 31 following the sending of the Delegate
Designation Form. If a group fails to designate a delegate within the time specified, another group drawn is invited to designate a delegate.
