Jean-François Chalifoux Elected to the Board of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association

, Quebec City

Jean-François Chalifoux, CEO of SSQ Financial Group, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) for 2017-2018.

In a concerted effort, he will work with the other directors to create a legal and regulatory framework that will grow the activities of insurers, while promoting policies that contribute favourably to the Canadian economy and society.

"I'm very pleased to join the CLHIA's Board of Directors. Our industry is changing; we must focus on the rising cost of prescription drugs, the shift in distribution models and the emergence of new technologies, among other things. It is important to be proactive in order to encourage the health and wellness of all," said Jean-François Chalifoux.

Established in 1894, the CLHIA is a voluntary association whose member companies account for 99 per cent of Canada’s life and health insurance business. The industry provides a wide range of financial security products such as life insurance, supplementary health insurance, annuities and retirement plans to 28 million Canadians and employs about 150,000 Canadians.
