At their last meeting, the members of the board of directors of the Centre de développement en assurances et services financiers (CDASF), also known as Puissance Onze – Quebec City Lévis, elected their organization’s key administrators.
Jean-François Chalifoux, Chief Executive Officer, SSQ Insurance, was elected Chair of the group. He succeeds Sylvain Fauchon (February 2018 to April 2019) and Michel Laurin (May to August 2019), who previously held this position.
- Denis Dubois, President and Chief Operating Officer, Desjardins Financial Security, becomes Vice-Chair of the CDASF Executive Committee.
- Martin Delage, Executive Vice-President, Individual Insurance and Financial Services at La Capitale, Insurance and Financial Services, was elected to the position of Secretary.
- Denis Ricard, Chief Executive officer of iA Financial Group, was elected to the position of Treasurer.
“The members of Puissance Onze play a key role in the social and economical development of the Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches region. This area has the largest concentration of insurance company headquarters in Canada,” said new CDASF Chair Jean-François Chalifoux.
“Dynamic and innovative, the insurance industry makes a difference in people’s lives. It employs more than 18,000 people in the region, and over 11,500 of them work for companies that are members of Puissance Onze. That’s a total of $2.2 billion in wages,” said Chalifoux.
Puissance Onze member companies are proud to offer a stimulating and challenging work environment in a wide variety of areas such as health management, marketing, compensation, finance and accounting, law, human resources, communications, sales and distribution as well as digital transformation and e-business.
These companies in the Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches area employ talented people to ensure business development across Canada in life and health and property and casualty insurance. Contrary to popular belief, 65% of the employees of Puissance Onze member companies are women, and they represent 58% of the management staff.
Chalifoux also thanked past presidents Sylvain Fauchon and Michel Laurin for their excellent work in their respective mandates.
Founded in 2007 by the officers of insurance companies headquartered in Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches, the CDASF has a three-part mission: to attract qualified personnel to its member-companies; to raise awareness of the economic and social impact of the insurance industry on the greater Quebec City area and the stability it provides to the area’s economy; and finally, to increase bilingualism of present and future employees to better serve their growing clientele across the country.
